: Hand wash and Hygiene Program in Government Schools of Kandhamal district in Odisha
: Hygienic practices are being promoted among the school students since a couple of years. Of late, it is been realized that the sanitation and hygienic practices among the young can bring in the actual transformation that we are seeking in the society in areas of health, hygiene and sanitation. Hence, this year more focus is driven towards promotion of hygienic practices among the school students especially adolescent girls. This program is being purposefully celebrated in schools within 3 operational districts namely- Angul, Khordha, & Koraput and other 4 adjacent districts namely- Dhenkanal, Puri, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal in close collaboration with the education department. Among the intervened districts 4 districts are aspirational districts which was one of the reason in the selection of the districts. Under the program, hygienic kits comprising of organic liquid hand wash and shampoo are distributed to adolescent girl students. A total of 24000 kits have been distributed to adolescent girl students from 155 schools. They have taken the Swachata pledge/ Swachta Varta to clean our mind, our body and our surrounding on the occasion of such distribution. The students are also demonstrated the steps for hand washing for safer and healthy life.
