Nutrition Garden
Project Description
:
Nutrition garden has been one of the successful interventions of Kalinganagar where it was initiated with 914 families in FY 20. They were really happy with their decision of initiating the garden in their backyards. We have observed positive changes in the food habits of families and now there are multiple vegetables in their plates. Taking forward the learnings of the previous year i.e. nutrition is a necessity for people of all age groups, ensuring good health of all at all age viz. Sustainable Development Goals 2& 3. We targeted households having anaemic girls, expecting mothers, children of age between 0 to 5 years, newly married couple. There is a special focus on the above mentioned categories to develop a fact based study on the benefits of a Nutrition garden. Apart from the 12 types of vegetables is promoted, we also be ensure locally available medicinal plants like Giloy (Tinospora Cordifolia), Tulsi (Ocimum Tenuiflorum), Mint (Mentha) and Curry leaves (Murraya Koenigi).
