Livelihood intervention through SHGs at Pottangi
Project Description
:
Empowering the tribal women and enabling them to enhance their food security, increase in incomes and improve the overall quality of life through natural resource management and intervention of improved agricultural practices among the SHG members and farmers is the sole motto of NALCO Foundation. In this process, Foundation has facilitated the villagers in the formation of CBOs like SHGs & VDCs. Then, the members have been trained & linked with organization like KVK Sunabeda & ICAR, Sunabeda for promotion of sustainable agricultural practices under the technical guidance. In this connection, several input support has been extended to improve lives through promotion of alternative livelihoods. Under the project, on the request of the Kasuguda village, a pond has been developed to enable the SHGs adopt fish cultivation within the village. They were also facilitated to get trained from fishery department.
