: Projects aiming to improve the living conditions of the poor cannot, therefore be effective unless women participate in their formulation and implementation as contributors as well as beneficiaries. Increasing women capabilities and empowering them is the surest way to contribute to economic growth and overall development. Empowerment of women became a primary objective and secondly the Plan attempted Convergence of existing services available in both women specific and women related sectors.To Convergent program with different institutions in the government, private sector and civil society, for improving the lives of the poor self employed women in the unorganized sector and empowering them economically and socially. To promote micro enterprises and sustainable farming as source of livelihood.Implementation Process.Clear road map for SHGs The intervention involved a process oriented approach, which includes various Modules such as Module 1 Introduction to Group Management, Module 2 Introduction to Enterprise, Financial Literacy and Training and Module 3 Enterprise Development.Grass roots staff from local area The grassroots staff recruited from the local area and established rapport with the community quickly, that helps to build trust between the community and Grasim, Ganjam. This generates gainful employment for local people, particularly women.Professional backstopping support The field volunteers in all the villages received professional backstopping support from the leadership team of Grasim, Ganjam through on site visits. This is provided by those at the helm including Unit Head, Functional Head and other senior members.Need based convergence The project aims at convergence with various government programe. This has varied according to the needs of the target communities and stages in the groups development. Grasim, Ganjam continued to organise convergence programmes in association with DRDA District Rural Development Agency, ORMAS.
