Project Description
:
The hospital Maa Santoshi Jankalyan Foundation, Bonkakundru is situated in the remote forest area ofMalijubang Gram Panchayat of Kalahandi and it is 30 KM away from Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh. The GP is constitutedof around 30 villages and Bonkakundru is one of the villages. Before 2002 the area was lack of health facilities. AtBengaon Gram Panchayat, a Government Primary Health Center is there to cater the health need of the people. Thevillage Bonkakundru is 20 KMs away from Bengaon PHC.Health is one of the basic and primary needs of the people of any region. In the year March, 2002, Maa SantoshiJankalyan Foundation, Haridwar, Uttranchal started a hospital at village Bonkakundru, and named it in the name ofthe foundation Maa Santoshi Jankalyan Foundation Hospital, with the objective to provide medical treatment,medicine and medical assistance to the SC and ST populace of the area, totally free of cost. The hospital is cateringthe health need of the people of 5-7 Gram Panchayats. Around 30 to 40 patients are getting free medical services perday. During the epidemics such as malaria and diarrhoea the hospital is one of the health centres to cater the healthneed of the people.Since beginning, a committee has been formed to manage the hospital and Mr. Maturam Agarwal is theChief Convener. Currently another committee has been formed and is constituted of 11 members. Mr. Sridhar Pesniafrom Lanjigarh is the President of the committee.In the year 2014 the hospital was passing through some financial crisis, because of the funding, from the foundationwas stopped. The staffs were not getting salary and the hospital services was not up to the mark, which impacted thehealth services of the community. Hence the Project Coordinator (Mr Chitta R Nanda) and the Committee membersof the Hospital approached to Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh and requested to support the Hospital. Since September,2014, the MSJK Hospital is being supported by Vedanta Limited
