Subhalaxmi BahumukheeMahilaSamabayaSamiti Ltd is an all women community institution in Jharsuguda district of Odisha under the auspices of Vedanta Integrated Jana JeevikaYojana - a livelihood project under the CSR initiative of Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda with the technical assistance from ACCESS Development Services. As an outcome of this initiative, it has flourished as a member-owned, member-managed and member-controlled cooperative providing sustainable livelihood solutions to its members through quality financial and business development services. While Vedanta Ltd. supported the institution through its CSR funding, ACCESS Development Services assisted by providing technical expertise and handholding support for its establishment and strengthening. Started with only nine villages in the year 2008, the Cooperative has now expanded its area of operation to 52 villages of Jharsuguda, Kolabira and Kirmira blocks of Jharsuguda district. The dedicated efforts and initiatives of 10 women leaders has now established this Cooperative as one of the most rewarding and successful institutions in Jharsuguda with 2,755 women members as on 31st March 2016.
