1000 Schools Project in Sukinda
Project Description
:
This project intends to make the Right to Education (RTE) Act a reality. Over a five-year period, the project targets to cover 1,000 schools, saturating six blocks of Odisha across Jajpur, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts. The project encompasses a huge capacity building exercise, including staff orientation, training of teachers and youth, and training and exposure visits of School Management Committees (SMC) and members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The project also involves the establishment of Learning Enrichment Programme (LEP) classes in selected schools which included a baseline assessment of children, instituting effective teaching methods, availability of sufficient teaching-learning materials in classrooms, setting up of school libraries and an effective academic monitoring mechanism to ensure high-quality outcomes. As part of the project, several Residential Bridge Course (RBC) centres and Non-Residential Bridge Course (NRBC) centres have been set up.
