: Tribal Art
: Tribal art forms, especially those of the tribals, are nearly vanishing among the youngsters. Traditionally, the tribals are good at art and music. Today, they have joined the hordes of cheap landless labour, thus this project is an effort to take them back to their roots. In order to preserve the arts and crafts of the tribals, it is necessary to ensure the continuity of their traditional painting. The aim of this project is to train the tribal ladies in their disappearing traditional craft / art respectively, and adapt them for the contemporary market. There is an access to pool of tribal girls and women across the Lanjigarh periphery who can be trained over a period of time to achieve quality, quantity and income. With the help of our implementation partner, FIDR will bring its experience and connect for this unit and our experience in working with the products on materials such as Tassar and Canvas. This unit will work in 2 stages The Showcase or Hub Centre at Lanjigarh near the VAL periphery will consist of a Display and Retail centre for the products and also a training & production centre with products in various stages of production. The tribal unit will be made self-sustainable in five stages, which will involve firstly mobilisation and identification of women resource, followed by training them and building their capacities to produce good quality product. After enhancing their capacities the quality of the product will be monitored and ownership will be promoted. This will be done along with establishing market linkages at district and state level which would create sustainability and further the market linkages will be expanded for profit and further strengthening it.
