SANSKAR Self Help Group towards Women Empowerment….….
Under our women empowerment support programme Sanskar SHG at Gandhinagar was formed on 4/11/2008 with 11 women members. After formation of their SHG they have opened a saving account at UCO Bank, Hirakud Branch. All the members of this group are depositing 200 rupees per month in the common fund of the group. Till date they have done saving of more than 1,00,000 in their savings passbook. After that they have started internal lending among their group members for emergency need and successfully repaid the amount with proper interest to the group. Then we have facilitated loans to the SHG through UCO bank in different times and now they have taken 6. Lakhs only.
For improvement of the income of their SHG members we have provided them Income generation based training like Papad & badi making. By getting training they have started papad making and were supplying to our canteen, Cooperative stores and at various functions and festival stalls. From the last four years, they have been involved in making & supply of Chhatua to Anganwadi Centers under ICDS Sambalpur. We have supported them with all the heavy machineries & infrastructure to develope entrepreneurships. Presently they are earning profit amount of Rs.1.60 lakhs per month. The profit amount is equally divided among the 11 SHG members, which is helping them to improve their livelihood & Living standard. Now they have expanded their area of business by getting order from ICDS to supply to additional Anganwadies.
They were also provided with necessary training on Mushroom cultivation, SHG capacity building, Record management, different awareness programmes on dowry less marriage, Alcoholism & girls education. This group is doing regular meetings, bank deposits, timely loan repayment and are involved in income generation activities. The aim and objective of this group is to work for the community as well as to sustain themselves by being involved in income generation programmes
Besides this they are also involved in Mid day meal programme for the nearby High School. They are also contributing their support to the society by involved in Relief support during natural calamities, helping to the orphanage children, volunteering in Health camps creating various awareness in the communities, motivating the parents of the dropouts to send their children to Schools and many other activities like this.
We are providing necessary logistic supports to the SHG from time to time and our senior officials are visiting and interacting with the members to promote their SHG activities. In association with Mission Shakti Scheme of Women & Child Development Dept of Odisha Govt, non-refundable corpus funds have been sanctioned to the SHG members. Other Govt programmes and schemes are also helping the SHG members towards the women empowerment & growth of the under privileged members.

How it was evolved as a SHG : We have formed the SHG on 4/11/2008 under our Women Empowerment Programme. A total of 11 women members from Gandhinagar area are motivated and formed the SHG for their self-sustainability.

Fund Mobilised from Govt/Bank linkages : Non-refundable corpus funds(Rs.5000/-) have been sanctioned to the SHG members and Rs. 6.00 lakhs has been obtained as loan amount provided by the UCO Bank. , Hirakud Branch.

Activities (Manufacturing, Marketing etc )under the project they do :
The Product prepared by the SHG members are supplied to Anganwadies Centers as per the direction of the ICDS Section of Govt of Odisha.
Monthy Average investment for this project Rs.5.00 lakhs/- per Month.

Revenue Generated : Rs. 6.60 Lakh per month

Profits : The profit amount of Rs. 1.60 lakhs per month is equally divided among the 11SHG members. ( Rs.14000 to 15000 per head income)

Further Scaling or expansion Plan : They are also trying to acquire orders from ICDS to supply their product to Anganwadi centers of other clusters.

Sustainability : The project now is self sustainable and do not require our support as the scale of revenue generated by them are sufficient to support their operations.

Overall impact on the socio-Economic Standard of the members and their family :
By doing this project the SHG members are supplementing to their family income which has improved their economic conditions and helped their families to lead a better living standard..

Any Recognition, certificate received by them : The SHG have received the Best Performing SHG award for the year 2010 in the Republic Day Celebration of Hindalco Industries limited . Further our Company have also received Silver Awards from GreenTech Foundation in 2014, Gold Award from APEX foundation and Platinum Award from Fame Foundation in 2018 for our contribution to this innovative livelihood projects.
